The Senzo Meyiwa trial is the ongoing trial of five men accused of the murder of former South African national football team captain Senzo Meyiwa. Meyiwa was shot and killed in October 2014 at the home of his girlfriend, singer Kelly Khumalo.

The five men on trial are:

Zandile Khumalo, a state witness in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, was irked when defence attorney advocate Ntuthuko Nxumalo told her that her statements were “contradictory”.

Nxumalo had been cross-examining Khumalo about her statements to the police and in her affidavit to the court. He had pointed out that she had made different statements about the number of people who were in the house at the time of the shooting, and about whether or not she had seen the gun that was used to kill Meyiwa.

Khumalo became frustrated with Nxumalo’s line of questioning, and she told him that she was not his wife and that he should not speak to her in that way. She also accused him of trying to “mislead” the court.

The exchange between Khumalo and Nxumalo was heated, but it did not derail the trial. Khumalo continued to testify, and she is expected to be cross-examined by the other defence attorneys in the case.
